그대의 정원에 소중하게 간직하세요

 

For thyme it is a precious thing
And thyme brings all things to my mind

 

그 향기 자체가 너무나 소중한 존재이므로
내 마음에 세상 모든 것을 가져다 주어요

along with all its joys

모든 환희를 동시에 가지고 있는
독특한 향기를 지닌 백리향
내 마음에 세상 모든 것을 가져다 주죠

 

Once I had a bunch of thyme
I thought it never would decay

 

한 때 백리향 한 다발을 가지고 있었는데
결코 시들지 않을 거라고 생각했었죠

 

Then came a lusty sailor
who chanced to pass my way
And stole my bunch of thyme away

 

그런데, 우연히 지나가던
건장한 선원 한 사람이 찾아 와
내가 가진 백리향 한 다발을
몰래 훔쳐 가버렸어요

 

The sailor gave to me a rose
A rose that never would decay

 

그 선원은 나에게 장미 한 송이를 주었죠
결코 시들지 않을 장미 한 송이를

 

He gave it to me to keep me reminded
Of when he stole my thyme away

 

그가 내 백리향 다발을 훔쳐갔던 순간을
계속 기억하라는 의미로
나에게 장미를 주었어요

 

So come all you maidens young and fair
