제 13 품 세품(世品)

천한 인생길을 가지 말고, 사려 깊지 않는 삶의 태
도에 빠지지 마십시오. 그릇된 견해를 따르지 말고,
세상일에 관여하지 마십시오.
莫從卑劣法。莫住於放逸。莫隨於邪見。莫增長世俗。
莫作卑劣事，莫怠惰過活，莫執持邪見，莫延長世界。（註：在此
世界是指生死輪迴。）
Don't practice inferior teachings; don't connect with
negligence. Don't embrace wrong beliefs; don't be attached
to the world.
Don't practice an ignoble way of life, don't indulge in a
careless attitude. Don't follow a wrong view, and don't be
attached to the world.

정신 차리고, 나태하지 말며, 올바른 삶을 사십시오.
올바르게 사는 사람은 이 세상과 저 세상에서 안락
(安樂)하게 삽니다.
奮起莫放逸！行正法善行。依正法行者，此世他世樂。
莫懶於執行（托缽的）責任，應細心地奉行此善行。實踐此善行的
人，今生來
世皆安樂。
Arise! Don't be negligent! Practice the good teaching! one
living in truth dwells happily, both in this world and in the
next one.
Wake up and don't be careless, but lead a life of well-doing.
He who follows righteousness lives happily in this world and
the next.

올바르게 사는 삶을 살고, 악행을 하지 마십시오.
올바르게 사는 사람은 이 세상과 저 세상에서 안락
(安樂)하게 삽니다.
行正法善行。勿行於惡行。依正法行者，此世他世樂。
應細心地奉行（托缽的）責任，莫跟隨惡行（即不托缽）。 實踐此
善行的人，今生來世皆安樂。
Practice the good teaching; don't practice the bad one! one
living in truth dwells happily, both in this world and in the
next one.
Lead a life of righteousness, and not a life of wrong-doing.
He who follows righteousness lives happily in this world and
the next.

이 세상을 물거품이나 신기루 같다고 보십시오. 세
상을 이와같이 보는 사람을, 죽음의 왕은 결코 보지
못합니다.
視如水上浮漚，視如海市蜃樓，若人觀世如是，死王不得見他。
若人能有如看待水泡，或看待海市蜃樓般，來看待這世界（即五
蘊），那麼， 死亡之王就看不到他了。
As if one would see a bubble, as if one would see a mirage,
who observes the world like that, the King of Death does not
see him.
Look on the world as a bubble, look on it as a mirage. The
King of Death never finds him who views the world like that.

와서 이 세상을 보십시오. 임금님이 타는 황금 마차
와 같이 잘 꾸며진 세상을, 어리석은 사람들은 여기
에 빠지지만, 지혜로운 사람들은 여기에 관심을 두
지 않습니다.
來看言個世界，猶如莊嚴王車。愚人沈湎此中，智者毫無執著。
來吧， 看看這世界（即五蘊）。 它像華麗的皇家馬車；愚人沉湎其
中，但智者毫不執著於它。
Come and look at this world, similar to a beautiful king's
chariot. Where the fools sink down, for those, who
understand, there is no attachment.
Come, look at the world as a gilded royal carriage, in which
fools get bogged down, while men of understanding have no
attachment to it.

전에는 사려 깊지 못했을 지라도, 지금은 사려 깊은
사람이라면, 그는 이 세상을 환하게 밝혀줍니다. 마
치 구름을 벗어난 달처럼.
若人先放逸，但後不放逸。彼照耀此世，如月出雲翳。
以前放逸，後來精進的人，如無雲的明月，照亮這世間。
Who has been formerly negligent, but later is not, illuminates
this world like a moon freed from cloud.
Even if previously careless, when a man later stops being
careless, he illuminates the world, like the moon breaking
away from a cloud.

지난 악행을 선행으로 덮어 멸(滅)하는 사람이라면,
그는 이 세상을 환하게 밝혀줍니다. 마치 구름을 벗
어난 달처럼.
若作惡業已，覆之以善者。彼照耀此世， 如月出雲翳。
以善撲滅了舊惡之人，如無雲的明月，照亮這世間。（註：「以
善」的善是指阿羅漢道智）。
Who covers his evil deeds with good ones, illuminates this
world like a moon freed from cloud.
When a man's bad deeds are covered over by good ones, he
illuminates the world, like the moon breaking away from a
cloud.

참으로 이 세상은 깜깜한 암흑입니다. 진리를 아는
사람은 거의 없습니다. 마치 그물을 벗어나는 새가
드물듯이, 천상(天上)으로 가는 사람들은 거의 없습
니다.
此世界盲暝。能得此者少。如鳥脫羅網，鮮有昇天者。
這世界是黑暗的，在此中能（以觀智）洞察之人很少。就像只有少
數的鳥能逃脫羅網，只有少數幾人能去到天界（與涅槃）。
Blind is this world. Just a few can see clearly here. Few go
to heaven, like a bird released from a snare.
Blinded indeed is this world. Few are those who see the
truth. Like a bird breaking out of the net, few are those who
go to heaven.

백조는 태양의 길을 날아가고, 신통력을 가진 사람
은 허공을 날지만, 지혜로운 사람들은, 마군(魔軍)과
마왕을 정복하고, 이 세상을 벗어납니다.
天鵝飛行太陽道，以神通力可行空。智者破魔王魔眷，得能脫離於
世間。
天鵝在天空中飛翔，有神通者在虛空中飛行；智者在戰勝魔王與魔
軍之後，脫離了這世間（即證得涅槃）。
Swans travel on the path of the sun. People travel through
space by supernatural powers. Wise ones are guided away
from the world, having conquered Mara with his army.
Wild swans take the path of the sun. Men with powers travel
through space, but the wise step right out of the world, by
conquering Mara and his host.

어떤 사람이 이미 하나의 규율을 위반하였는데, 그
가 거짓말로 부인하며, 다음 세상에 대한 믿음을 거
부한다면, 그가 저지르지 못할 악행은 아무것도 없
게 됩니다.
違犯一（乘）法， 及說妄語者，不信來世者，則無惡不作。
違犯一種法，說妄語及漠視來世者，是無惡不可為的。（註：一種
法是指真實。）
For the person, who has transgressed the one law (of
truthfulness) and is speaking falsely, and has rejected the
other world, there is no evil that could not be done.
When a man has already violated one rule, when he is a liar
and rejects the idea of a future world, there is no evil he is
not capable of.

인색한 사람들은 확실히 천상(天上)에 가지 못합니
다. 어리석은 사람들은 분명히 보시(布施)를 찬양하
지 않지만, 주는 것에서 기쁨을 찾는 지혜로운 사람
들은 내세에 그것 때문에 안락(安樂)하게 됩니다.
慳者不生天。愚者不讚布施。智者隨喜施，後必得安樂。
誠然， 吝嗇的人不會上生天界，愚人不會讚嘆佈施；然而智者隨喜
佈施，因此來世獲得安樂。
Selfish ones do not get to the world of the gods. Fools do
not praise giving. And the wise one enjoys giving. Just
because of that he is happy hereafter.
Miserly people certainly do not go to heaven. Fools for sure
do not praise generosity, but the wise man who takes
pleasure in giving is thereby happy hereafter.

지구 전체의 유일한 통치자가 되는 것보다, 천상(天
上)으로 올라가는 것보다, 또는 온 우주의 주인이
되는 것보다 더 좋은 것은, 생각의 유입을 멈추게
하는 과실(果實)입니다.
一統大地者，得生天上者，一切世界主，不及預流勝。
成為統治這大地唯一的大王，或上生天界，或統治全宇宙，都遠遠
比不上證悟須陀洹果。
From sole sovereignty over the earth, or from going to
heaven, from lordship over the whole world, the fruit of
Entering the Stream is the best.
Better than being sole king of the whole earth, better than
going to heaven or sovereignty over the whole universe is
the fruit of becoming a stream-winner.
